See you at the festival!
The award-winning Newmarket Heritage Festival, New Hampshire’s favorite international block party, returns on May 31—and you’re invited! Celebrate the arts, culture, history and community spirit in a new location this year—inside the historic Newmarket Mills at 55 Main St. in downtown Newmarket.
Great Performance Line-Up: The 2014 Heritage Festival features a great line-up of multicultural performers: music of the old country with legendary accordion master Gary Sredzienski, the dazzling Chinese Folk Art Workshop, and the high-energy rhythms of the Akwaaba African drummers; Irish music and dancing with the New England Irish Harp Orchestra and the McDonough-Grimes Dancers; flamenco dancing, Indian and Laotian dancing, a hip hop dance demo and more!
Artisans at Work: Watch (and try!) blacksmithing, barrel making, letterpress printing, pottery, Chinese calligraphy, woodcarving, wool felting, and more. Meet these talented artisans and learn about the tools and traditions of their work.
Vendors: The festival also features dozens of vendors, including Main Street merchants and Newmarket Mills merchants, who will be open for business and offering festival specials! Don’t miss this chance to stock up on handcrafted gifts, specialty items—and good eats!
Activities: The Bristol S-Gauge model trains will be running in the American Legion building, strolling musicians will play on the sidewalks, and a band of medieval knights will be roaming the streets. Also around town, the Newmarket Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale and the Community Church will host a Soup and Chowder Supper.
